Oatmeal Chocolate Chip

There isn't much in life as tasty as a nice, warm, chocolate chip cookie. This is a tried and true recipe that I have used many times, and came from my mother-in-law who made these when my husband was a child. You can also switch the chocolate chips for raisins if you really want, but my husband would think that was a horrible idea.

  • 1 cup margarine
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ¾ teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups of old fashioned rolled oats
  • 1 cups chocolate chips
  • ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon

  • Mix margarine and the white and brown sugar together.
  • Add eggs and vanilla, mix.
  • Add the remaining ingredients and mix.
  • Drop on a cookie sheet and bake at 350°C for 10 minutes. The tips and edges should just be going a little brown, but they will still be really soft (they will get a little firmer as they cool).
  • Remove from cookie sheet and let cool on a wire rack. They will look very different when they have cooled.
