Chocolate Fudge Pudding

Oh, yummy fudgy cake. This is a great treat on top of ice cream, or all by itself. It has a nice spongy cake, with a runny chocolate sauce. It is best when it is still hot but it is still really good after it has been in the fridge for a couple of days. By that time the cake has absorbed more of the sauce and it is a little more fudgy.

This is another family favorite from my husband's family cookbook. It's slightly different than the original because Nathan and I have tweaked it over the years and we think it's better this way.

Ingredients (Cake)
  • 1 cup flour 
  • ½ teaspoon salt 
  • 2 tablespoons baking powder 
  • ¾ cup of sugar 
  • ½ cup milk 
  • 1 egg 
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla 
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Ingredients (Sauce)
  • ½ cup brown sugar 
  • ½ cup white sugar 
  • 2 tablespoon cocoa 
  • 3 cups boiling water


  • For the cake, mix the first four ingredients (the dry ones) together. Then in another bowl mix the four wet ingredients together.

    • Now mix the wet and dry ingredients together. Pour into a greased 9x13 pan and set aside. 

    • For the sauce, mix the brown sugar, white sugar, cocoa, and boiling water together until disolved. Pour over batter. 
    • Bake for 30 minutes at 350ºF.
